A thank you letter from Wish Child Elizabeth: Dear Make-A-Wish, My wish was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. It made me feel very very special. To be able to go to New York City and see the World Premier of Prince Caspian was awesome and I know I would never have been able to do that without all the people at Make A Wish. I will never forget it as long as I live. Here is what my trip was like:A limo picked us up at the airport! I loved having a limo! Our first driver was SO nice. He told us he was also a fireman. He drove us to our hotel the long way and showed us a lot of the city. It was exciting to see NYC, especially from a limo! He took us to our hotel. Our hotel was great. It was right on Times Square. I loved walking out our hotel’s front door. It was thrilling to merge with the crowd and walk to the very center of Times Square. Times Square was REALLY cool at night! Even riding the subway was thrilling! Every time I stepped out of the limo, I felt like a movie star. That’s the only way to put it. We had a limo four times! Like I said, our hotel was great. You could walk right out the door and see so many cool things. Starbucks is my best friend, and there was one on every corner! I had lots of Starbucks. That was fun! Then seeing EVERYTHING…..the Statue of Liberty, Empire St. Building, Wicked, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art (loved it). I might try to be an artist when I grow up, so the Metropolitan Museum of Art was especially fun. The Statue of Liberty was just AWESOME! It’s HUGE! And the Empire St. Building was freaky (in a good way) just how it moved and swayed at the top, it kinda gives ya chills.
The view you got from there was incredible! Central Park looked like a little building block! Then, oh my gosh, Wicked. It was the most awesome thing of all of them! Well, it’s hard to say that, but it really was the best if not almost the best. We had incredible seats, and that HAD to be the best show on Broadway! Then, the best thing of all…. Prince Caspian! Here we go. So, the morning of the premier my dad and I went to the Empire St. Building. Mom called to tell Dad to take me to a nail place before we came back and let me get a mani-pedi!!! (It felt soooo good.) After I got my nails done, I went back to the hotel room and got ready for about two hours, and before I knew it the limo was there to pick us up! Then, in about 5 minutes, we were at the Ziegfeld Theater! (if that’s how you spell it. I don’t know.) It was about to happen!!!! We weren’t exactly sure what was going to happen. Then when the limo stopped, I was at the edge of the Red Carpet (EEEK!). I stepped out of the limo and ONTO THE RED CARPET! Bernadette, our Disney lady, was there and said that I got to walk the red carpet!!!!!! There were tons of photographers there and people across the street screaming and waving at Lucy(Georgie Henley). Georgie was already on the red carpet talking to reporters and having her picture made. The red carpet was awesome! There were spooky looking guys dressed up in knight outfits standing all down the side of the red carpet. Didn’t think they were real until I saw one move his eyes!! So, I stand on “the carpet” for a while, until Georgie Henley (EEK! i know) gets done with the cameras. Then I walk past them and stand and watch all the commotion and cameras for awhile. Then we went inside. Right before we took our seats we got popcorn and Pepsi. (FREE!) Right after I sat down I looked over and saw Tilda Swinton…the White Witch…standing right beside me! I could have reached out and touched her from my seat!! She was talking to a little 3 or 4 yr old little girl. She got the little girl by the hand and took her to meet King Miraz. She sat directly across the isle and 3 seats over from me during the movie. I could look over during the movie and see the White Witch!!!!! That was cool. Also, my mom and I needed to go to the bathroom right before the movie started, so we ended up walking back into the theater with all the stars!! I don’t think we were supposed to, (we didn’t know that) but we did!! I walked in right in front of Prince Caspian…like an inch in front of him! He and all the other main stars sat just over and behind us a bit…I could see also them during the movie. It was really really cool to watch the movie WITH the stars!!! And it was awesome to see the movie before the rest of the world!!! Oh, and the movie was AWESOME!!!! After the movie we got back into our limo and went to the AFTER PARTY( double EEK!!!!). It was unbelievable. You had to have a special pass to get in…a necklace kind of thing. The library was gigantic and all decorated. There were musicians, jugglers, and magicians. They were all dressed up in Medieval costumes. There were food and drinks everywhere. After we got there the stars started coming in. They came through sort of fast and then vanished. Apparently, they vanished to a private room in the basement of the library. It was a room where all the actors, actresses, producers, etc. were!!!!! We didn’t know it until we had been there for a little while, but we had tickets to get into the PRIVATE party!!!!!!!!! I just about lost it when I heard that! So we headed downstairs and Bernadette, our Disney lady, showed our special ticket to some guys standing outside the doors. We went in and it was magical. So we reserved seats at a table with the main “centaur” and “King Miraz’s wife” from the movie. I don’t know their real names so I’m just going to call the centaur guy “Centaur.” Original, I know.
So my mom was next to Centaur and told him I was from Make A Wish and he immediately asked me if there was anyone I “fancied.” I said Ben Barnes ( cute! ) and Centaur took me to meet him! Then he took me to meet Skandar Kaynes (cute!)! Then he made me promise to just go up and say hi to whoever I wanted to meet. So, I did!!! The Centaur was HUGE so I wasn’t about to break THAT promise! I met Georgie Henley, ( who just hung out and talked with me for a looong time. !!!
) William Mosely, (cute!) and Anna Popplewell (who was very nice) ! Then we stayed a bit longer and it was time to go. Bernadette gave me one of the private party table decorations as we left. It is a silver knight in armour holding a spear kind of thing! It is about 12 inches tall!! Very cool!! I’ll keep it forever. Then the limo picked us up. That was the end of the most amazing night of my life. It was incredible. Then on Friday, we flew back home. I had a LOT of phone calls to make. THE END! Thank you guys for making my wish come true. I think it was a hard one to make possible. It means a lot to me that people worked so hard to raise money and that people I don’t even know gave money to make my wish happen. Total strangers cared enough about me and my disease to send me to NYC to sightsee and go to a World Premier movie. It was kinda like I got to be Cinderella for a night. That wouldn’t have happened without Make A Wish and the love of total strangers. That makes me feel very special. I will never ever forget it and will always be beyond grateful. Thank you.
Much Love,
Elizabeth
